Default epi clutch kit

i had a epi clutch kit installed and they put the red spring and i find it too aggressive so i will have the pink spring put in, is there anything else a person needs to do, shims? what can you do with the secondary clutch?

The only other thing I'd do, before buying anything, is call Dale at Dalton Industries.

You will like the PINK spring much better than the red. The red is way to aggressive in my opinion and it feels like you have to keep the RPMs too high to keep the clutch engaged. When I originally installed the EPI PRO CLUTCH on my AC 650LE I also made the mistake of installing the RED spring. After about two hours of riding I put the pink spring in and was very happy with the results. The pink spring has a slightly higher engagement point than stock but not so high that you feel like your over revving the engine. It's also a nice smooth engagement. Not abrupt like the red spring. I have even gone so far as to try shimming the pink spring by adding shims between the spring and pulley. I ended up with a 5mm shim behind the spring and this just slightly raised the engagement point up slightly even more(not anywhere near the red spring)but kept the nice engagement with no jerkyness. Your kit should of came with a black spring that replaced the spring in the secondary clutch. This spring loads up the secondary pulley and eliminates belt slippage giving you a much more reliable clutch. The shims that most people are the shims that are in the middle of the secondary pulley. These shims can be added or subtracted to adj belt tentionWith the AC 650 it is common for people to leave in the 1mm shim and remove the .8mm shim. This should tention your belt on the tight side of the spec. If this was done you should hear a slight squeek out of the clutch onece and a while when the atv warms up. If you put the atv in neutral it should immediately go away. The squeek should not be loud or consistant and your atv should not attempt to creep when idleing in gear. If it does the tention is too tight and the belt will need to be loosened by adding a secondary shim. It is also possible for the belt tention to be in spec and not squeek at all so don't determine belt tention by this. This is just what you might hear when the belt is as tight as it can be.
By the way, an HL ICM or even better a DYNATEC CDI will perform miracles with your clutch kit. The factory cdi detunes the motor by 30% at low speeds so the atv won't over power a beginners abilities. The ICM or DT's CDI gives you full power at all speeds. I have the ICM but have the CDI on order. The ICM along with the PRO CLUTCH make this quad a wheelie machine. My atv will hold the front tires off the ground till 25-30mph with these mods. NO BULL S#&T.
RICH.

I ordered Dynatek ignition right from the manufacturer....yup.....not for another month.

Put in the EPI red secondary spring today. Quite a bit longer than the stocker, so I can see a top end loss and slower upshift will result, but with the big tires I think it will the way to go.

Wookie where is the best place to get the clutch kits. I plan on playing and working my 650 pretty hard I don't want the belt to be a problem. I just bought a 64 acre place and have a lot of chainsaw/ brush work to do! So I want it to hold up! any info would be great!
