I too am using the AC synthetic kit and would recomend it.I have over 3000 miles on my 02 400 and have not had any problems with weeping or anything else.My machine actually shifts better with the synthetic.

I am in the process of taking the engine apart on my TRV to replace the counter shaft. I have used the AC synthetic kits after break-in and the inside of the engine is sparklin clean. Even after 1000+ miles.

Plus after running synthetic the cooling fan doesn't come on as much.

I was thinkng about switching to Amsoil but I think I will stay with what is working even though it might be a lttle more expensive.

Well I should be up and running by Sat . It will have cost me about $1200.00. I am having the dealer change the valves over for me, it should be ready today. I am going to flush the system out and top it up with?
Could I go right to synthetic after I flush, or should I go through the break in again?
Also what is recommended Amsoil synthetic oil for my bike?

I agree 100%, use the synthetic right from the git go. I would recommend the 0W40 AC oil, I've noticed my bike shifts better, runs cooler, and I know that oil is flowing at start-up.

Bluethumb and others,
What is the synthetic oil change kit? Can't a person just start using synthetic oil or what? Thanks.

The oil change kit is sold through AC dealers, comes with 4L of 0W40 oil, a filter and a spout for pouring it. You can use synthetic oil of another brand, as long as it's compatible with wet clutches.

Anton,I also have a 03 400AC .You should have gotton papers in the mail from AC a while back about a 2 year warrenty. They extended the warrenty on them for free.Did yoiu buy it new?. I thought every body got that.I'd call AC customer service not the dealer.I dont trust the dealers. When my wifes quad was 3 weeks old she broke a steering knuckel, the dealer would not warrenty it so I called AC direct and they coverd it.Good luck.Woody!
