Just picked up my '98 454 from dealerservice dept. Has a snapping in rear end. Dealer said rear output joint is bad, as well as final shaft, etc. Long story..short = approx. $1000 to repair. Ordered service manual instead. Now looking for parts. Any suggestions ??

Wow! What do they charge per hour? You can rebuild the drive shaft, you don't need to replace it. Your service manual will explain how and what parts you need. I'm guessing you may have torn the rubber boot near the engine on the drive shaft?
