The 500 today is not the same one as the old 500. I think 2003 was the year they changed it. The newer engine is the same 500 as found in the Suzuki Vinson. I don't know if it has the same low end grunt that the old 500 was famous for, but it is pretty darned mean in the mid and upper range.
