Winch mounts

gezz boner,,,,The 1998 454 has "Bear Cat" In big bold letters right on the sides and even tho the 1999 & 2000 models no longer have the "Bear Cat" stickers on the sides most dealers, riders and companys still call them bear cat's and as far as I know thay ALLWAYS been Arctic Cat and I have been riding Arctic Cat's since 1969. I would rather have a Warn but I'm not all that "cashie" and the warn is $300 or better. The place where I work sells the Superwinch but no ATV mounts and with my employee discount I bought the T1500 for $98 bucks. NOW, do you know web sight that has winch mounting kit's for the 1999 Arctic Cat Bearcat 500 4X4 Quad fourwheeler, you know the big green one ;-).

I know, but every time I hear "Bear Cat" it reminds me of thouse ugly bronze colors.

I know the ugly bronze wheels of the 1997 and I stress 97 Arctic Cat "Bearcat 454". I had gold wheels on my 86 YMF 225 and though ugly, I never thought a thing about it at the time. I was just happy to be riding it. 1998 AC's had new graphics and a few mods to the front end, but the frame is the same more or less. My cousin has the 98 and it don't say Bearcat anywhere. I liked the Bearcat name at the time, and I don't see it as any big thing to mock or make fun of just because it is a little old. Big Bear is 13 years old, and nobody says a word. Don't give me a list of the changes between the 97 bearcat and newer models either. I know them anyway and that would just waste time. The point on that is made. Just a precaution for further wasted posts.
Now, the factory made AC winch mount is set up for the 4 bolt pattern of the warn winch. I don't know what type of mounting setup the Superwinch has, but check it compared to the warn and if it is the same (which I have no clue), it will work. If not, check the catalogs (dennis kirk, cabelas, etc.) and you can find a Superwinch mount, though it wont be quite as nice looking as the factory styled AC mount. Another thing, if you can get that superwinch for only 98 bucks, then get it. $200 is not worth the difference unless you are a person who just likes to use a winch a lot. That is a great deal. The only better option is the promo that comes with new quads in the fall. Mine was $100 extra, but I would have never gotten it if I had to pay full price.

Andy, Thanks for the idea on the mounts. I picked up the winch just the otherday. i realy wanted a warn but I couldnt pass up this deal. Just one of the vary few pirks at my job. I checked arownd town and the superwinch T1500 was selling for about $170 give or take a few bucks. We dont handle the ATV2000 otherwise if the price was right I would have got that one.I can order a Superwinch ATV mount for the Arctic Cat at Fleet Farm (a store in town). Thay sell for $79 seems a little steep to me. I'm trying to save $ for another ATV for my son and I want to get new wheels, 27" tires & a lift kit for the cat this summer. I would also like to get a bigger, heveyduty front bumper and thought I saw one somwhere that had a winch mount incorperated into the bumper.

There is a company in my home town that makes many things for quads. There Boot Guards are famous in the atv industry. You might have heard of them, Ox-Lite. Try oxlite.com. They make heavy duty, yet light weight, Bumpers with sinch mounts.
