My 650 experiance
#1
Just thought for a change of pace, Id post a message saying something positive about the AC 650. Just turned 300 miles and absolutely no problems. Use has been mainly narrow trails with rocks, boulders, mud, drypack etc. Ive pulled out two stuck bikes with no belt problems. Possible explanations for my lack of problems might include : 1. Had the dealer check and adjust belt before I took delivery ( factory setting was too loose ) 2. Production date was mid Dec and may have incorporated some " updated componants " 3. Type of trails has required use of low range about 98% of time. The only complaint Ive had is the stock tires which really suck. A switch to Mudlites made a huge difference ( any tire other than stock would work as well !!) All in all, I am 100% satisfied with my 650. Again, just wanted to post a positive experiance with the 650.

I am overall satisfied with my 650 except for the limp mode problem. I like the ride and the power. I just think the company has a lousy approach to taking care of it's customers. They probably won't change until it's too late.

Yeah, I agree 100% about A.C.s lack of customer service. Just for fun, I faxed a letter to the head of marketing stating that several people I end up talking with while riding state that what kept them from buying a Cat was their reputation for lousy customer service / relations. Never did get a response from them. Im still amazed how little interest companys have for issues / problems that are discussed on this type of forum. They dont seem to understand that many buyers, right or wrong, make decisions on their next purchase based on what is posted in forums. Oh well. I kind of look at it as the child turned out fine in spite of the parents not having any class.

I love my 650LE. I have had absolutely no problems with my ATV but I did do my homework and took the time to eliminate the problems that I could forsee.
1) I installed an EPI pro clutch with the pink primary spring and removed the .8mm shim out of the secondary clutch to adjust the belt tension.
2) I got rid of those dreaded stock radials and went with a set of 26x10x12 and 26x12x12 Mudlites. This alone turned the ATV into a whole different machine. You wouldn't believe the difference unless you have already done it to yours or have tried someones who has.
3) Replaced the stock CDI with one from DYNATEC. It made it effortless to wheelie the front end and eliminated the LIMP MODE and the REVERSE LIMITER.
Now these mods were not cheap and I know that but almost everyone does mods to there ATVs when they get them. All I did to mine is what a Yamaha Grizz guy would of done to his ATV. Lots of people buy aftermarket tires, Exhaust systems, clutch mods etc... I just made sure that the mods that I chose to do gave me not only a performance increase but eliminated a known issue with my ATV. Is it worth it? You could say 100% cause thats how satisfied I am with my AC 650LE.
Rich.
