Default MRP cargo box

Was wondering if anyone has the cargo box and the cargo box quick release kit. No dealer around here has one in stock, but they are all willing to order me one. lol I was wondering if it is easy to take on and off, for instance if you are staying in a motel, not wanting to spend a lot of time mounting and unmounting this box.

Default MRP cargo box

Homer,
I have the MRP Cargo Box & Quick Release & also the Backrest on my Cat 650. You pull 4 pins & the Cargo Box is off, the quick release comes off with it, no problem at all. I mounted mine with the
flat side of the Cargo Box up against the backrest, so i would have more seat room. I do have to slide my backrest forward to open the Box, but it's no trouble as i don't use the pins in the backrest. When the backrest is all the way back it's up against the Cargo Box. Some mount them with the flat side to the rear & if they have the Backrest they lose seat room.
I also installed some nice stainless hinges & a hasp with a small lock. If you don't seal the box it will leak when you hose it or power wash it. The AC seal is $5.99 i believe, but you can buy a thin weather strip about anywhere for less. Hope this helps. Regards, Jerico1

Jerico 1 thanks for the reply. Sounds like a good setup. Think that is the way I am going to have to go. No more bunge cords sounds good.

Hello The MRP box is very nice , looked at the quick release bracket , but decided to not get it because it makes the box sit a little taller, I have a TRV and had to mount it on the front. I second the previous opinion about the seal kit I ordered it with out seeing it and was kinda disappointed when it was just foam weather stripping and no real instructions , it does help but not 100% , ran though some flood waters and the spray came in a little. The box could also use a stop chain to hold the box in the open position , because it is really hard on the plastic holders when the lid is open. Over all i would but it again.

I really like my box but....... I had to modify it a little on my own. I added a stop chord to hold the lid open and I added some weather stripping to assist in the water tightness of the box. All in all I like it.

Oh ya and I just added a short custom rack to the lid that kicks butt....

I also have the MRP box and quick release on the front of my TRV's - check out the pics. But I drilled 1/8 inch holes in the cup holder areas to let the water out and it works. Half my stuff was ruined from trailering in the rain but at least now the water runs out and doesn't form a first-aid kit soup.

I'll try that weather proofing window seal to keep it dryer. If I get into water deep enough to start coming in the Box holes - Those holes were not my last mistake and that's not my biggest problem.
