DOA,
You strongly voice your opinion,I am voicing mine. You do not have to agree with me,I am not saying I'm right and you are wrong, just like you cannot. Its opinion, its not an attack on YOU.I do not think kawi transmissions should HAVE to be modded,it should be an option, just like a module, snorkle or tires. As far as I'm concerned always having to adjust the belt tention is modding, not just aftermarket springs.

Is changing your oil or ajusting your brakes a mod too? I have 27's 589's and nothing needed, no springs or anything ever modded.

Just check your belt every 1500km and giver. If this is bad,(LOL) so is ajusting your brakes.

kawasaki.

Artic-Cat is your problem, read the threads on any kawi site or go and ask, no problems, just like mine, go across newfoundland if you want pulling a heavy trailer. I would not hesitate and would not have any wimp problems either. If you go to a one lunger after owning the twin, you are going backwards, if you never had the V twin, I guess you won't know what your missing.

Ease up heyyou,
I must respectfully say you don't know what you are saying. There is plenty wrong with the tranny in certain conditions. How can AC be our problem when Kawi makes the tranny??? AC is not standing behind it, that is true. Do you know about the letter AC sent out about the tranny,? if not then maybe you don't know all the details, and you my friend should "ease up"

I can say it is because I run a 650prairie which like I stated previously, works perfect in a year+ and 7500km, so have all other kawi's. Other than how Cat messed the belt system up I think you have a good bike with an awsome motor in the V-twin.

Go to the kawi forum and ask on this site.

You adjust the back brakes on the Kawi because it lasts so long, some say the life of the bike, you got to like that. They have worked flawlessly on my kawi so far also and I use them ALL the time. Come on camo Brute, I want you now, how is that for being confident, I will have it soon too.

How much do you have to spend to keep it working perfect?

One thing some of you guys keep forgetting... the kawie tranny was designed for a kawie with 25 inch wheels on it and AC had this good idea of putting 26 inch tires on the bikes and that could be one of the reasons why we have to mod things a little. Anyhow, I thing the bike is real good ones you get the setup right.

From what I have read, from the bikes I have ridden & from speaking with my friends who own bikes, they all have some inherent problems, some worse than others. Comparing the Prarie to the AC was already done via magazines & the AC won. However it did'nt win without several statements about how much they enjoyed the Kawie depending on the condition. It was an IRS against a straight axle. Each had conditions where they dominated, Kawie hills, AC mud. I live in SE Texas, we aint got no hills around here, but we got alot-a mud. So for me the choice was obvious. To argue about which is best is rediculous, everyone leans in one direction or another. Personally I thought the Prarie was just butt ugly, so are Polaris for that matter. I looked at the brute force in the shop, looks better than the prarie, but the plastic is paper thin, wires going everywhere, & as a whole lookes cheaply made. I think I'd go look at that & drive it before I stated flatly that I was going to purchase it. Who knows, the Suzuki king quad might blow them all away in all respects.

I havn't put a dime into mine. If it is set up properly, the stock tranny is excellent. It works fine on the Prairie and it works fine on the AC.
