I am getting ready to buy a arctic cat 454 and was wondering what their bad and good points are. has warn winch, big tires and it is a '97 model still in good shape.700 miles. any in-put would be appreciated. oh yea whats up with the e-mail forum? it won't take my e-mails? any suggestions? thanks Suzie.

From what I hear the parking brake sucked(mecanical foot brake), the seat was harder than the 99 models, The jetting needs to be changed to stop the back firing and plug fouling, and those ugly wheels have just got to go.
But other than that I think it was a GREAT quad.

If it had two brake levers, then somebody changed it, because they have all just had one linked lever. As far as 97 models go, they were drastically improved a year later. A 98 model is a far cry from a 97. Unless you just really get a good deal, I would stay away from a 97 454. But then again, thats just me.

oops my bad. it is a '98 and has been converted to 2 brake levers and 2 master cylinders. 1 for front and 1 for back. it seems to be real strong. and BTW i can get it for 3200. with warn winch and some kind of box on the back that has all kinds of stuff in it. thats all thanks.

I don't understand the 2 brake levers. The AC 4wd's brakes are all linked together. Front and rear.

when they added the 2nd brake lever on the right side they probaly disconected the rear brakes from left had brake.
I still think seperate brakes front and rear are useless on a full time 4wd. When you use the front brakes the rear brakes will lock up too so they might as well be linked if you ask me.
