If your belt is glazed you can rough it up with some emery cloth, put the thin shim in and take the thick one out, ride in low????????????????

Thats about all I've got.

just fried my belt as well... got pretty well the same set up as you... will install the red EPI spring now, that will fix it for good (will reduce top speed but that is not of any concern to me).

I wont trust any belt I've burned again. Of the three that have been smoked - each has failed shortly thereafter.

i burned a belt right away on my 500 last year and that belt ran over 1000 miles without any problem but then again that was the arctic setup to so if i get the red spring for my drive clutch i won't have any problems? i supposed it is stiffer what about the shims do you think it would help if i also took out the big shim and put the small one back in? i want that thing so tight that it will want to go when idling and has anyone ever thought of finding a shorter belt for the 650 so we don't have to go through all this clutch spring crap???? put on a tighter belt and boom done cause everyone is frying belts anyways THANK YOU KAWASAKI before owning this wheeler i never liked kawi and i am starting to go back to that except the motor is awesome

OK, just put that red spring in, left out the small shim like before (I also have the Dynatec CDI)... bike now wants to go ahead in idle and it is not shifting up as fast (just what I wanted). Can't go too hard on the new belt right now, needs to be broken in for a few miles, but with this set up you should not be worried about the belt anymore.

I got the spring from EPI and went to my dealer with my clutch (I just took it out of the bike) and he put it in, with his compressor tool, free of charge. The red spring is a lot stronger and harder to put into the clutch that's why I went to the dealer. There are other belts on the market but I just went with the Cat (Kawie) one because I did not want to wait too long.
