I have a 2000 Arctic Cat 400 4x4.
My wife was driving it the other day and when she drove by me I could hear a "dragging" sound or a "gear type" noise coming from the rear end somewhere. I am not sure if the noise had been there since day one or not...I just noticed it a couple weeks ago.
The dealer says it is nothing. He says it could be the break pads up against the disc. He says the pads still just slightly touch the discs even when the are not engaged.
Anyone have any ideas???
Thanks!!

Try removing your rear brake pads and see if the problem still exsist. Just remember, without the pads in place, the brakes will not work good, if at all.

Sounds like the brake pads to me too. My 400 has a squeak /dragging sound coming from the brakes, but they are much quieter since going through the brake pad burnish procedure the owners manual (page111) recommends.
