Thanks Jett, I will be ordering my service manual
tommorow. I need a new inner cv boot and there is nothing like proper procedures to avoid doing a repair twice.

Hey BadCat, what do you honestly think of your GPS unit? I've noticed several of the guys are using them for different things and they look like they could be rather useful for hunting and such. I don't know a thing about them though, is there anything in particular to look for, certain features or a specific brand? Anything to stay away from?

Thanks!

Mike

Thru my local dealer. He had the number right at his finger tips. I ordered mine and got it within a few days. My dealer has treated me pretty good. His 2001 cats look pretty sweet.

Hey Cowboy, honestly, I am VERY pleased with my GPS and I never go anywhere without it. It's great piece of mind to know that you can go anywhere your quad will take you and then return home. Or just the oppisite, go back to someplace that you were already.
Magellan and Garmin are both good brands. They both have alot of features to offer. The main feature I was looking for was "back-track", basically, as it implies, it lets you retrace your steps/path back exactly the way you came.
I spent several hours online at Magellan's and Garmin's web sites to make my choice. Obviously, I chose the Magellan and I am happy with my choice. I've noticed that alot of the guys on here have Garmin's and I'm sure it's just as good if not better.
Most of the hand held units are water resistant and Magellan's even float.
Depending on the amount you wish to spend will deceide on just how many features you'll get. Plan on spending around $150+ for a nicely loaded unit. I also purchased the optional power cord for mine so I don't have to depend on the one AA battery for the sole source of power.
The GPS will tell you your speed, location, height above sea level, distance traveled, distance to go, location of the sun and moon and anything else you put in it, just to name a few.

I guess what I'm saying is, "go get one" I don't think you'll be sorry that you did.

You'll end up using it for more than just your quad, so check out the web sites and pick one that is right for you. Hope this helped you out.

BadCat:
Thank You! Yeah, that did help out quite a bit. That sounds like exactly the type of stuff I'd do with it. I go elk hunting a lot and while spending time out roaming through the woods, I often find new spots that I would like to set up a stand to watch, yet by the time I get back to camp, I forget exactly where it was, and never can find it again. With the 'Cat I can cover more ground quicker, and have been able to find these places over time, yet by the sounds of things, with a GPS I could just drive right to it. That would be awesome!

Another thing that you mentioned about the altitude, and coordinates and stuff, Bahnerman just had an accident with his brother in law's horse flipping over and breaking his leg. I guess he used the GPS to tell the air rescue team where they were located. That in itself is definately worth the small price to pay for the unit.

Soon as I find the websites you are talking about I'll check them out and hopefully pick one up fairly soon. May have to wait till Christmas, but it definately sounds like something that is more of a necessity, simply for the safety factor alone, not to mention all the other features it allows for.

Thanks!

Mike
