Is a Locking front diff. possible?
#2
It is not possible to make a 250 a locking diff. There is a kit available to make it shift from 2 to 4 wheel drive. If you look closely the spine shaft is already on the front diff. The kit is the arm kit to shift it. The front locker is a totaly different differential.

Ok, I'll not get a 250 even though this one has the front diff. shifter already installed. Since the 2005 300 4X4 diff. is the same as the 250 it can't lock either. So for a locker I need to look at a 400. Thanks for the response.

Catrep; I was aware of what the factory has done, but just because the factory doesn't make it happen doesn't mean some slick knowledgable mechanic type can't make it happen. I've done something's to equipment that the engineers never dreamed of, unless they were hot rodders too.

The locking diff is a totally different casting and design. It also has to incorperate the electric 2 to 4 wheel drive. It would probably be simplier and cheaper to buy a locking diff out of a wrecked unit.
