Bluebear!!
Ok, here is the skinny! I read that magazine and they say that the difference between the Z400/KFX400 and the DVX are the Body Plastics. Dirt Wheels Sept. 2004 issue stated that you have to make sure that the parts that you buy from aftermarket places have been tested to fit the DVX's! They were installing foot pegs and they holes did not line up quite right. Same with the aftermarket Pro Circuit 496 Pipe! That is something to consider! Granted it may miss by only a mm or 2 but non-the-less it might be more of a nuisance than a straight bolt on!
Just something to consider! Personannly I like the looks of the DVX and I like that fact that you can remove certain plastics!
Up to you!

My Pro Circuit exhaust fit great, i got the T4 full system for a Z400 and there were no problems. The only problems you should have with parts fitting is if they connect with the body in any way. In that issue of Dirtwheels the problem with the IMS heel guards was poor craftsmanship on IMSs part, and the tab where they are supposed to connect with the body didn't quite reach the plastic because the DVXs fenders are shorter than a z/kfxs. I ordered some Alba nerfs for a Z that also connect to the fenders and i ordered them knowing they wouldn't reach, it's just something you have to put up with for being different. Great bike though.
