650 Brake life
#1
I have around 400 miles on my machine, while having the broken axle replaced, the dealership called and said " rear brakes are metal to metal" No big deal except at around 300 miles I put 80 dollars worth of brakes all the way around it. So my questions are: why are they wearing so fast? Who makes a better pad? And of course Why Me? I have had bad luck with the bike, I really like it and want to stay with it just am getting frusterated! any info will help a bunch!

Wowwee dude, something is up,brakes must be on a smidge all the time.I was steel to steel on mine at 2500kms.I bought a set from the dealer(200 bucks Cdn.!!)and gave my brother in law the old ones,he glued car pads on them with JB Weld, trimmed down the sides and machined them to the proper thickness.
I'll be darned if I'm going to pay those prices every couple of months.I could put brakes on my car three times for that price!

Now I am torqued, I picked up my bike today. They handed me the old "Metal to Metal" shoes. The "wore out" pads had half life left on them. The service manager and mechanic were not there when I picked it up! SO I paid 40bucks for brakes that I did'nt need yet! I never let anybody do more than warranty on my stuff, but I thought a mechanic knew what metal to metal meant on brake parts, and could save me some work when he was already there, what a friggen moron! I just don't get it! The dealership also had to play hell to get my parts, the wharehouse wanted to back order my hub till December 23 somehow they ripped some but and got it in?? Another fun trip to the dealership, I can't wait to see what's next

I had a really bad time with my dealer when I first got my bike as well. After he figured out that I wasn't an idiot and I wasn't going to go away he is treating me pretty good,so stick with it,your bike is worth it.

Wow! Something doesn't seem quite right. I have almost 1100 miles on my bike and probably still have half the pads. Can't imagine wearing them out in 400 miles. I'd be tempted to take the half worn pads back to the jerk and tell him to put them back on and give me my money back. They must not care about any repeat business.
