Suspension settings

How much suspension travel do you lose when you set the springs to a higher level? I have only had mine on the softest setting since new and am just wondering how other have their suspension set and why. Thanks a lot.

you will not lose travel with a stiffer spring setting (higher setting as you put it). It just takes more force to compress the spring. You should have your front springs set at least in the middle when you are using your plow. You will notice the quad will not squat as bad in front when you lift the plow off the ground. Same goes in the back.....you need to adjust for your weight and riding conditions. On a smooth trail and not hauling anything the lighter settings work fine, but it isn't convenient to keep changing them so I usually leave my front set in the middle with the back one click from the highest setting.
If you do adjust them make sure to jack the quad up to extend the spring as much as possible. I just use a big pumphandle pliers to turn the adjuster then. It works much better then the cheap tool they give you.
Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot, I will do the adjusting this weekend. My front end does squat a bit with the plow so this will help. I will be sure to jack the ATV up too, thanks for the hint!

I think I have mine at 2 in the front and 3 in the back. I like how it handles extra weight with the rear one higher, I also like it that way for when I come out of stream beads and one front tire is barly on the ground.
