650 Vtwin best mudder?
#2
I don't know about best but it is mean in the mud stock. My buddy bought a new BF and he gets stuck trying to follow and I don't mean once, three times last time we rode! Mine is bone stock. For some reason the AC does seem at home in the mud.

well the only ones that would come close would be the polaris's with their fairly good ground clearance the grizzly's with locking front diff and ground clearance and the BF i dunno what the ground clearance is but sometimes just brute power can make up for lil less ground clearance but i seriously believe that the cat with the locking front diff and class leading ground clearance and alot of power is king of the mud hole but when you get out of stock tires and go with aftermarket then that has alot to determin the king then plus the persons driving skills

Mudding importance, in order...
1 momentum (rider)
2 traction
3 ground clearence
4 hp
this all equals SPORTSMAN (best stock tires (and AWD), 2nd in ground clearance and plenty of hp)!
I've never been stuck where the wheels (all 4) wouldn't spin and throw gobs of thick mud. Its usually my fault for going too slow or letting up on the throttle.

how can you say that your polaris 700 has ther best stock mudtires when there only 25inch? (maybe the new 800 w/26 inch like the arctic cat)
Ground clearence: Artic cat is still king.
HP: iam not positive but i would think the kawi 650 has more HP than the polaris 700, the 700 on the other hand iam sure has more torque. (again the po 800 i would think has both more HP and torque)
total weight of ATV: polaris is heavier, iam not sure if this is a handicap or a advantage?
I wasnt thinking of the new polaris 800 when I started the thread, i would have to say the only other quad to dethrone the Artic cat 650 as top mudrunner would have to be maybe the new polaris?

700 polaris beats my 650 in the mud???? i don't think so i have kicked the crap out of so many of them it isn't even funny anymore it lost it's humor after about the 2nd mudrun and with the 800 i talked to about 3 guys that work at polaris (kinda mad i quit so i don't get to ride this new stuff) but they said that the 800 doesn't have that much more horsepower then the 700 does the only difference is the dual exhaust which they connected a single pipe and just split it to two mufflers which just adds weight and all the 800 motor is, is a 700 bored out they told me that the cylinder walls are so paper thin that they are having major overheating problems and they started laughing and said just you wait there will be alot of problems with the motors failing. and for the crap we drive in the floating bog weight is a deffinate disadvantage once you break through that pete you are done for. oh and they were telling me they said the way i can hang wheelies with my 650 and the amount of bottom end torque i have they just started laughing and said you won't have a problem at all against this 800 it is a joke all it is, is that it sounds good cause it is an 800 but in reality it is a glorified 700 with added weight from the exhaust pipe which wouldn't amount to a hill of beans but i will admit back before arctic atv's had the limited slip front end polaris was better now that they have diff lock it isn't even a contest and polaris is mostly what i mudrun against and 1 grizz he does way better then the polaris's as well

My bad, I originally thought this was about the Prairie 650. The AC has awesome ground clearance.
Having said that there is no better stock mud tire than the Goodyear rawhides. The 26" tires don't matter if it don't add ground clearance.
The new PXT should be a close 2nd for stockers.
The 700 carb has 45 hp stock and weight does aid in mudding. If the 650 prairie added 140lbs on the back it would be a close drag race, that's like two up. The Polaris also is faster than the AC 650twin, its documented in the mags.
The 800 is much faster than the 700, wait til the shootouts I would'nt doubt it would be faster than a BF.
Weez, you should do better with the 27 inch 589s.
The sportsman 700 won the ATV mag big tire mudding shootout.

I had a mag from earlier this year with a comparison of all the big bores, I cant remeber if the polaris700 was faster than the 650 V2, but if it is I would be realy surprised. That being said I would defanetly line up against one for a little drag race I do remeber the mag stating the 650V2 at that time was the most impresive mud machine to date. The 650 V2 got 3rd place in the shootout, not to bad for its first outing ( got beat only by the prairie 700 1st, and Rincon 2nd).

hey weez iam not surprised that you spanked the 700, I never rode with one before but I have spanked many 500, and my other buddy has a 04 grizzly wich I have respect for, even though I have spanked the grizz in the mud many times also
