Default velocity devices vs. highlifter

Ive read on velocity devices website that their modules along with others are not capable of increasing output beyond a certain rpm. This due to correcting ignition retardation. But on highlifter's website they have a dyno chart that shows an increase in power across the rpm range. VD claims that the comp on the atv is programmed to retard the ignition below say 1100-1700 rpms, so the module is only to correct that, and says that no other manufacturer's module is able to increase power across the board.

From VD's website--- "Our Timing Advance Module connects to the speed sensor input on the igniter. It continuously sends a frequency greater than 60 Hz to the igniter to ensure that the igniter never retards the ignition timing at lower speeds. This gives you maximum power at speeds less than 7 KPH. Our competition CLAIMS their module will give power throughout the entire power band. This is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE since the stock igniter does not change the ignition timing based on the speed input. It just uses the speed input as a yes/no check for retarding the ignition timing by a FIXED amount at low speeds. To prove it, we used the same 3150 Hz output our competition uses in their module, and we GUARANTEE that our module WILL NOT give you extra mid-band to top-end power."

i have used the highlifter module and i currently have the dynatek cdi and neither of them gained any power from mid to top end but that isn't where i wanted it all down at the bottom end from what i believe highlifter just sends a false signal to the cdi to advance the timing so you gain more horsepower dynatek alows the motor to rev higher rpm's advances timing eliminate limp mode if that is any help? i dunno anything bout the vd one but i do know highlifter and dynatek both gain mad horsepower on bottom end up through about mid range

I read them same articles,I don't care for the snake oil sales pitches so I bought the VDI module, and I'm glad I did. They are good people,I can send them an e-mail asking a question and they get right back to me.I doubt anyone would get that service from HL.

I've read (and seen) a lot of 'bad press' about High Lifter. I really don't think they're bad people. I think their business has increased so much (due to the tremendous increase in ATV sales) that they're overwhelmed and just can't keep up with all the inquiries, emails, and phone calls. They seem like a bunch of "good old boys" who stumbled on a good thing and aren't quite sure what to do with it.

Having said that, I must admit that I haven't ever bought anything from them. I've just seen them a lot on the various ATV shows on TV.
