I think you two, Andy & Skinner are on to something. He's not very open and looks like a fake from the on-set. Let's say Moore85 is a 10-99 loser...
Chuck
Happy New Year, everyone.

my 03 500 manual was the same it seemed every time i took it out i was scared it was going to brake somthing.
but mine was hard on axels ( 4 ) of them because of the 28" gators.
and i put over 2500 miles on it and never had a problem with the brakes.
other then the rear brakes sucked right from the start.
but i had to replace 3 ball joints and all my front end bushings.
front diff packed it in when the last axel broke.
and i also had my air box crack all around the mount and fall off.
and i ride my honda just as hard and have had no troubles other then a small oil leak at the valve cover.
and they fixed it under warrenty.
but i think if i put the 26" tires on the cat from the start i might not of had any trouble with it eather.
but who knows it might have broken down just as much, but i dont think so.
all makers have lemons and thats what i think you got just like the one i got.
but i dont believe they are all junk.
but it dose seem the AC has had alot of problems with there axels.
and that is a fact.
and if no one else believes it then they should check on some older posts.
because i see on this forum all the time people saying that they broke an axel or another axel so its a problem there (AC) is gonna have to fix befor it realy herts there reputation.
axels are arctic cats biggest problem and if ac or any one else says differant there in denile.
also if you dont get that agressive with your quad im sure it will last forever.
but if you get it stuck and start to try and go back and forth with it or ride it hard your going to have broken parts.
like i said i ride my honda very hard and take it through anything and everything i can find and its still going strong.
and not one tenth the trouble i had with the cat.
and ten times more fun because of not having any problems.
if your quad brakes down alot your never going to be happy with it.
but if you dont have any troubles with it your going to prays it and say its the best quad ever.
cats are just like the rest of the name brand quads, some are trouble free for as long as you own it.
and others are trouble right from the start.
its the luck of the draw i guess.

I know for a fact that Arctic Cat has Upgraded the axles on the '05 400 and 500s to the same ones the 650s run. So any axle problems with the 400 and 500s with any tire should be gone. As to the front diff. packing it in after on 3 axles being broken I would say you got lucky as with the stress you were putting on it with those tires it lasted pretty good. You are treaty your Honda totally different than you treated the Cat becuse you stayed away from the super oversized tires. I don't think the Honda would have like them either. You really lose your right to bitch about your ride letting you down when you hot rod it. They didn't design it to handle those big tires or they would have put them on for you.

i wasent bitching because it was always braking down.
i was saying what happend.
and thats why i whent with the smaller tires.
because i knew that the tires where most of the problem.
but when i got my cat the dealer said it would handle it with no problems.
and i trusted him because it was my first atv and i thought he new what he was saying.
and he did to a point.
the tires worked great but it was harder on parts.
i guess you have to give to get.
and u might know for a fact.
that the axels are differant because a book told you so.
but my freind and i looked into the 04 axels also and the only thing differant with the 650s and the 500s was the part number.
my friends 650 axels where the same size as mine no differant.
and even the macanic at the dealer said they were the same.

I like my AC, but mudblaster is onto something about the axles. I broke my right rear at 400 miles with a bone stock 650. That is a little crazy!! I mean the machine was not even a year old yet like 8 months! I agree, AC is going to end up being thier own worst enemy, they have some of the best ideas in the market today. Thier iproblem is small quality issues that go long way with us riders. That will be the shot in the foot for them! I say again I am not bad mouthing, they really are a great machine!

The dealer wants to sell the machine then the tires, of course he said it wouldn't be a problem. Dealers are like lawyers, how do you tell they are lying? Are their lips moving?

Hey man I give you a big A+ because at least you learned. A bunch of the ding dongs out there just keep doing the same stupid things again and again. Of course it's always the machine, the manufacture or someone elses fault even if it happens to them again and again and................

If i wanted to screw with people i would do it elsewhere, i'm being completely honest. I have had all these problems, and if you dont beleive then keep to yourself, i'm just seeing if anyone else has had these problems
