400 engine change

Why did AC change the 400 engine in 03 was there a problem with them? Has anyone owned the old liquid cooled engine and the new oil&air? If so is there any power differance, less or more time in garage?

the old 400 (371) was putting out 22 horsepower and the new 400 (376) was putting out 25 hp which everyone preferred power over the better liquid cooling system. so they said back in 03. id rather have liquid cooling myself, so thats why i upgraded to a 500. i havent heard much of any problems with either one though.

before i bought my 2002 ac500 i checked the horsepower on all models. this is what the were in 2002:
according to my dealer who looked them up in the book.
250(246) - 12 hp
300(280) - 14 hp
400(371) - 22 hp
400(376) - 25 hp
500(492) - 30 hp

im pretty sure those numbers are at the crank. I remember reading somewhere that the power output on a stock 650(633) twin was somewhere around 45 horsepower, no idea on the dvx though
