Default Looking at a 2002 Cat???

I found a 2002 375 AC at a local dealer today. It has 593 miles, Automatic Tranny in/out 4X4, It looks to be in real good shape. They priced it at $2950 OTD. GOOD DEAL?????

I have looked at several used bikes in the past few weeks. (3 Hondas, 1 Polaris, 1 Kawasaki, 2 Yamaha Big Bears) The others where around this price but looked a lot rougher.

What should I look for on this bike before closing the deal. I am not very famalier with AC.
What about the BELT?
The foot brake seems to be useless but the hand break works fine.
It seems to be a cold natured.
There was a little water coming out of the tail pipe while idling.

That seems like a good deal to me, that is a solid engine, make sure the coolent is good on it, also check the CV joints up front. It is a very low maintenance machine, no belt issues at all, foot brake is useless so don't worry about that, water out of the tail pipe is normal too. I say go for it! Good luck!

Catterman,

The CV joints look good. Is there not a belt on this machine?
The dealer said the previous owner only used it for hunting. He traded it in a few months ago on a new one.
Dealer said he went completly through the bike and found nothing wrong.
I will be riding with freinds that have Honda 400 Foreman's and Yamaha Grizzly's should this machine hold it's own with my buddies?

Thanks,

I bought a 2002 375 for my wife. It was from a guy who used it to deer hunt. It had 308 miles on it. We have put about 250 more on it. I had an epi clutch spring kit installed, gave it better low end. We love this machine so far. Sounds like a good price if it has been taken care of as you say. Usually deer hunters aren't to rough on them. Good luck.

The price is good if its in good shape. Sounds like you have looked it over pretty good. The water in the tailpipe is probably just condensation from a cold muffler heating up. Same as with cars. (thats why they rust if you make a lot of short trips, no time to heat it up and evaporate the water and it builds up and rusts) It will follow those other bikes anywhere. Will outrun the 400 probably, won't outrun the grizzly. For trail purposes, a 4x4 250 will follow the fanciest 700cc quad just about anywhere in the woods.

It does have a belt, but Arctic Cat has a really good belt design, and very few problems from it. You will be able to ride where ever your buddies go, you just won't be able to beat them in a drag race. Still, that is a great ATV in my opinion.

I had a Cat 375 that I put 3500 miles on. It was a phenomenal bike! That's a great price! I paid 5900 bucks for mine in '02 (never replaced the belt). Good luck!

Default Looking at a 2002 Cat???

The 2002 got away (actually my father-in-law bought it for $2,850.00, I should have jumped on that one but I am waiting on my bonus check from work).
I have found a 2003 400 4X4 Automatic with 720 miles.
The bike has Mud lite tires and chrome wheels with the factory wheels and tires included.
I am still talking money with the guy, he is at $3,500.00 I offered $3,200.00.
Any concerns with this bike?
The boots look good, seems to have good power, no smoke, new brakes, not riden alot lately.
The owner had a near fatal wreck on his brother-in-laws bike last March and is a little spooked now.

That has the same engine in it as the new ones, air and oil cooled compared to the liquid cooled. I am totally happy with mine. In 2003 some of them had problems with axels, but after 700 miles it should be good, axels aren't hard to replace anyway. What kind of suspension does it have, the same as the 2002 you were looking at or is it a fully independant one??? Seems like a good price too, even at the $3,500.
