Default AC 250 acting up.

A buddy of mine has an 01 AC250 and you have to constantly baby the gas to get it to run when cold. Once it warms up it idles waaay too fast. I am not familiar with this machines carbs. I am guessing you guys can help.

Thanks

Chris

hety, i also have an 01 ac 250 and the same thing happens. when it is cold, it will not idle, and you always have to be on the gas. but after a little while, it will go way up and i have to put the idle down a little. i think that you need to set the idle til it is hot.

There is an idle speed adjustment on the carb. With the seat off you will see a **** with a philips screw head in the center in a wire holder held on by one of the 4 screws holding to top cover on the carb, it's on the righthand outside. This will adjust your idle speed. Adjust it only after the engine is completely warm. How are you using the choke? Should be all the way on (lever down) for cold start. Then you need to keep backing the lever off (move it up) slowly as the engine warms up.

The choke lever felt loose so I guess that could be the problem. I will check it out next time I go over to his place.
Thanks
