i have a warn 2500# winch and am just wondering if anyone knows how reliable it is. What type of problems have people experianced? I carry a manual com-a-long and 100' of airplane cable just in case.

 

No problems and works great. I always recommend that a person have a ****** block for the winch though. Makes many more things possible. I carry two blocks.

 

Two 30 foot tow straps (cloth or rope) One so you don't have to wrap the winch cable/kook around metal bumpers (scratch and cut) and one for an anchoring strap, if needed

 

God only knows that if my winch failed I'd still be rotting in the woods swamp or mountains somewhere. The Warn 2500 I have on the polaris has towed me up and back down places I couldnt go without it, been on the lake bottom, sunk in the black silt swamp gook for hours, frozen in 20 below winters and worked to death raising and lowering the snow plow. Its still working like the first day it was installed. I think I broke the cable once using the F350 to pull the quad back up onto the ice - but that wasnt' the winches fault. I use to carry a manual boat winch and strap as a backup - never needed it so its in the don't need it anymore box in the garage.
