2004 AC650 secondary spring and belt reset
#1
Hi AC guy's, a guy I ride with has a 04 650 and he is putting 28" mud lights, will the EPI black spring work for him?
He has had to do his belt reset twice on the trail, I have heard something about a filter what is up with that? He has a 2 year warantee is this something that would be covered?

As far as the spring goes, he might want to get the next stiffer spring. I have 27" 589's and have the black spring with no problems, but some people think I should've gone to a stiffer spring. Just make sure he has his deflection set right. If he wants he should be able to bring his wheeler to the dealer and get them to install the RF filter. I didn't bother with that, I just ordered the dynatek CDI. I gives you more low end power and gets rid of "Limp Mode" and gets rid of the reverse limiter. Then you don't have to try to hold the button to get out of the mud hole.
I am no expert, but thats what worked for me.

My dealer told me that the clutches should not be messed with, using different springs, that if anything you can try just taking out a shim. I have known this mechanic at my dealer for years and years we have snowmobiled together and all sorts of stuff, and i know he REALLY knows his stuff. But on the other hand alot of people have switched springs with no problems.

I don't know? Not saying I know best, but before I changed my spring, if I got stuck and tried to get out in reverse I could smell my belt burning some. Now I don't have a problem. I have around 400 miles on it.
