Stopped by an AC dealer on Saturday. He had a new 04 500I sitting out front. I went in and asked how much. He told me he wanted 6600 for it. He also wanted 7000 for the 05. what would be a good price to get an new 04 500 for? I was thinking that $5,500 would be a fair deal seeing that the 06 models will be out in 4 months.

I also was thinking about trading in my 04.5 sportsman 500HO for it too. I have 400 miles on my 04.5 but I also have front and rear rack extensions, chrome front brushguard and rear bumper, and hand guards and hand warmers. Do you think I would end up giving him some cash too or should I be getting some cash back?

You are right, the 2006's will be out soon so the price should drop a lot. $5,500 seems good to me, however you might want to bargin for the 2005, as it has the newer body style, and the diff locker. Sounds like you have a nice Sportsman too, why do you want to trade? I can't guess as far as what kind of deal he would give you for it, dealers are in the business of making money so I bet you will have to pay something anyway. Accessories don't add to the value for some reason. Take them off and sell them on ebay might be your best bet. Good luck!

I had an Arctic Cat then sold it and bought the Polaris. I love that machine but my only grip, and its a big one to me for the type of riding I do, is the sliding down hills. The engine braking is stong in low range and the machine only is in 2wd when decending hills. It's just really hard sometimes to keep it under control. I never had this problem with my cat due to the fact that when in 4WD the fronts would help hold you back. I do know the steering was more difficult but at least I felt more in control.

anyways, I knew the salesman was askng way too much for the quad. Just trying to get a sense on what would be reasonable. I love the looks of the 05's but with all the tight technical riding I due the fender flares are cheaer and easier to replace when they get scratched up.

thanks
