Default DVX vs. 800

Why are there people out there that just try to cause fights on these fourms? I'm not going to argue with someone on the internet. I will say this: drive both, come to a conclusion OR don't move your fingures!

Default DVX vs. 800

Why did Arctic Cat call a 371cc a 400 years back? Its closer to a 350 than a 400.
Why was Honda's 432cc a 450? Its missing 18cc's.
How about a 633cc V-twin for a 650?
Suzuki 282cc is a 300?

Main question is why does it make a crap?

they round the number up to make it sound better and you can't blame them the 800 polaris i believe is a 760 which yes is alot of cc's and i personally would like to see them call it the 760 polaris or 632 kawasaki for instance. at least yamaha called theirs the 660 grizzly instead of the 700 grizzly so way to go yamaha.

Never mind all the pity bickering about numbers. I have raced and beaten BOTH. I have had a suzuki z400 outrun me BUT, it was not close to stock. I raced a 800 polaris last weekend in a sand drag, wasn't even close, after the start I didn't see him until I hit the brakes. If they are both stock and on sand I'd say the polaris if its in 4 wheel drive. If they are on pavement or hard pack and both have experenced riders about the same weight it should be close. I've never loss to a 4x4 polaris of any kind but I have lost to some 400's. A normal drag should only be 100 yards so I say line'em up and lets see who has bragging rights.

what is a dvx? I will tell you this from my experience whose Quad is tuned better? Are you stock for stock or just want to see who is the fastest? the vtwin will respond to clutch mods cdi/module mods, tire mods depending on weight/width of tire / and traction available, also airbox mods ie.. snorkle you also have options . other ideas may be a degree key on your flywheel this will advance your timing and give better tackeoff but, how far is the race area calculate that and you can clutch acordingly if it is a short distance use a HIGH stall clutch spring this will give you the best holeshot but keep in mind if he has the cc's or cubic inch he will eventually catch you so my Question is how far is the race the P650 runs around 60 to 66 mph the P700 runs 65 to 70 mph and the Brute runs 66-74 mph stock if he has a 800 polaris you can expect at least 66mph so to me I would work on 0-60 times instead of top end as you will most likely beat him on top but if he gets there quicker your up **** creek so my advise and also to others is think HOW OFTEN DO YOU TOP OUT I would bet MAYBE 20% of the time do I hit wide open throddle for any extended period other than for a minute or two well than maybe I should go for torque rather than top end so go for TORQUE, Takeoff whatever you want to call it but think a 500 horsepower hemi verses a 250 horseporer civic it does not matter the quickest car at a quarter mile wins right? so if you need the higher numbers ie top end to win fine but between these two quads I would say it is a torque / power to wieght war so stand your ground but your best bet in my mind would be a heavy clutch spring to give you more power off the line once you have him off the line he can be as powerfull as you but to catch you he needs tonnes of power because he is already playing catch up and eating your dust so it will take a mile or more for him to get close to you if you don't let off the gas!

Default DVX vs. 800

Wanna know how a race with a Sportsman 800 and AC DVX 400 would go? Well we raced. On take off the 800 jumped in front about 3 ATV links, then mid range the DVX begain to catch up, and by 5th gear had passed me and showed no signs of slowing down. We didn't race to topend, however I feel the DVX has about 4-5MPH more topend.

Ranks:
Takeoff-800
Mid range-Tie
Topend-DVX

Pretty close race, we called it a wash.

Thanks for the help!

don't get down polaris racing a sport quad is apples and oranges both atv's serve a different purpose. and how fast is your 800 on top end just curious i rode with one today and played around but never got a chance to drag race him and well he has 28 inch tires and i got 27 inch so that would be pointless anyways.

ok my 650 when it was stock wew that seems like an eternity ago. anyways it would average about 66 mph and a couple times i hit 68 but i know that 800 would get there alot quicker. besides i guess i am not in it for speed mine will top out at about 62 now but can hang wheelies from a standstill.
