I know the earlier 300 cats could be modified to lock the front differential. I know the new 05 300 cats don't come with a locker but would like to know it there is an after market locker for the front or if you can make a locker for it? Any info about this quad will be appreciated!!
Reliability?
speed, low and high range?
problems, pros & cons?
Thanks!!

I haven't seen an aftermarket locker out for cats but with some $$ you can put the front diff from the bigger ones in it. There are some older posts about doing it to the bigger machines that would give you an idea of whats involved. As far as reliability, its a great motor- it has been around for a long time (suzuki king quad) but keep in mind thats its only 280cc's. Its not going to win any races and its not going to throw roosts of mud with 27" tires As far as top speed in high range, mine averages about 45-50 on the speedo on hardpack or blacktop 40-45 on loose stuff, in low range the top speed is around 35, and super low is, well, low and slow but you have all the torque you would ever need. One of the cool things about the 300 is that instead of having one range in reverse like most quads, it has 3 (high, low, and super low) so its never really lacking any grunt in reverse. As far as other problems, its the typical cat stuff- brakes and wheel bearings if you run them in the mud and the shock mount bushings tend to wear out some what quickly but the bushings are very cheap and easy to replace. One thing I like about the 300 is that it rides really nice and it handles pretty well for a midsize independent ute. The only downside to it that I have found is that in very steep hill climbs the front end tends to get "light" a little easier than one with the motor in the middle. They also get great gas mileage too. All in all its a great machine and I don't think I will be getting rid of mine any time soon....
