I have an 04 650, and it is over all a good bike. I have had the common problems; limp mode, and a few disastrous crashes. But all in all good bike, lots of power and great ground clearence. The air intake is at the highest possible point which make for a good water crossing machine.

Hello to all.
I'm portuguese, and I'm about to became an AC dealer.
However, because it's a large investment, I would like to know more about AC, which is a relatively new brand in Portugal.
So what do you guys think about it?

And CrashinIt, what is limp mode?
I assume it's a state where the engines produces less power, but why does that happen and how can one prevent it?

Thanks in advance

so what do i think of it ? i like my cat tho it has had one problem and still has but i still have to recamend that these are great macheins there relativley new, with a lot of good ideas built in to them .but some people dont like limatasions, one of these is limb mode and cat is not the only one to have this .it can be elematated with a afer market CDI . wires can tell you a lot more about it or try theise out dynaonline.com or velocitydevices.com my self i went with the dynatek i love it . do you get to ride the roads or is it just a off road thing there?

other then the clutching and limp mode i love my 650 it is a great machine. limp mode is a safety device that i believe it is if you dump alot of water into the belt it will give an electrical spike that causes it to go into limp mode. which is basically trying to go in reverse without override on. it is a pain in the butt and the arctic cat had problems with it just having an electrical spike for no reason and it would come on but they fixed it for 05 and you can get a filter or reset plug for the 04's. i put in a different high performance cdi in it which took care of the limp mode problem for good and gave me more power. hope that answered your question beluga and i live about 35 or 40 miles from the arctic cat factory and been around polaris and arctic cat all my life the polaris plant is about 15 miles from here and arctic cat has always made a great product from their snowmobiles to their fourwheelers. if you want advice on the arctic cat atv's you deffinately came to the right place. one thing i found out about them is that they are extremely easy to work on for i have had to work on polaris and yamaha's before and that has been a nightmare. the simple task of changing oil or taking the clutch cover off or putting a jet in the carb is brutal and many choice words are said. they are coming out with improvements every year which is nice to see an underdog atv manufacturer have a great product who can keep up and pass all the other ones.

Have AC650 disadvantages? may be discomfort or high center of gravity?

I've had no problems whatsoever after a year and a half. I love it. It feels very stable to me and after a long day of hard riding, I'm not worn out or sore. Love the power, and excellent engine braking.

As a rock crawler, it is second to none. Big ground clearance and long suspension travel. Most people hate the stock Goodyear MTRs, but I love them. They really grab rocks. I didn't buy this thing for high speed handling. Get a Prairie or a sport ATV for that. I bought this to go through and over tough terrain. In my humble opinion, it is the best machine for the kind of riding I do. Oh yeah, the big gas tank is also a huge advantage. My buddies are always tapping into extra fuel tanks long before I do.
