Hmmmm,I had this problem last fall, couldn't get the darn thing to shut off.Someone over at arcticchat told me how to do it,I forget now.You have to get it into limp mode somehow and then use your reset key to get rid of that.Sorry not much help but if you ask at arcticchat you will get your answer.

couldn't it be that lil switch inside the belt cover that got tripped? or does that light blink like just regular limp mode? i dunno limp mode is a dumbass idea.

99.9% of all the 04 650's I ahve seen have had this problem. However there are upgrades you can make to your quad that will bypass the sensor all together. There are aftermarket cdi boxes for this model that will do this, keep in mind not all of these boxes are the same some only aid in performance and they do nothing for the belt problem. The dyna box is the one I would perfer yes it does cost the most but it is by far the best, you will notice a huge increase in performance from bottom end to top end were other boxes on ly help with the bottom end this box also bypasses the reverse overdrive button as well so you do not have to push that button ever again you can focus on were you are going. The dyna takes about 1 minute to install and you are on your way stock jetting works fine in most applications but this is one of the best upgrades you can make to this machine because it not only adds power and makes your quad way faster it also get rid of a problem as well.

You can take it back to your dealer, there is a free upgrade that the dealers can install.
