Default Looking at a 2000 AC 500 4x4..please help

I had ATVs growing up as a kid, but didn't really get into the ATV sport as an adult until a year ago. I bought a new '04 AC 300 4x4. Now I want a bigger quad. There is a guy here with a 2000 AC 500 4x4 automatic for sale. But I wasn't into ATVing back in 2000 so I don't know if the ACs were great machines back then or not.

Can somebody tell me a little about the Arctic Cat machines from 2000? Were they good solid machines? Good engine? It's a Suzuki engine, right? Good automatic tranny? Are they fast? Would it be a good quad? The book says it has less than 800 miles on it. Thanks for any advice...

my freind has an 01 500 and its like a tank,
it will do around 50mph and it runs good and he hasent had any trouble with it.
its a sra not like the new ones.
and it sits pretty low so it failrly stable.
try it out and see for yourself thats the best thing.
but if the price is right then it should be a good quad.
oh and yes its a suzuki motor.

My dad has a 2000 AC 500 auto 4x4. It is awesome. Not a single problem, they have the ACT rear end. That is a good thing. Muffler might have some rust on it, and you might want to change the radiator fluid. Otherwise she will be read to go! Great bike.

Thanks for the replies. Do the 2000 AC 500 4x4s have selectable 2WD/4WD?? That's a big deal for me...I know they switched over to a selectable system sometime around 5 years ago...wasn't sure if the 2000s have it or not. thanks...
