Default inner cv boot..... need help

hey everybody i have an 2001 AC 400 4x4 and i need help replacing my inner boot. i have taken everything off except for the axle which i was wondering how to do it. i think i have to pound on a little rib type thing that the axle goes into before it goes into the front diff. i am not sure and dont want to screw something up.

Default inner cv boot..... need help

Don't be pounding on things or it can get very expensive fast. You have to remove the the large circlip that holds the inner CV in bearing ring in the housing. Then the joint will come apart if you have room. Usually I unbolt the the top bolt holding the upper A-arm to the knuckle, then you will have plenty of room. Once the inner CV bearing ring is clear there is a snap ring holding the bearing ring on the axle. Mark the bearing ring and the axle so you get it back in the same location. After that you just slide the old boot off and the new one on an reassemble in reverse order. You don't need a hammer at all so don't even get one out.
