Artic cat rep will be here Monday. Yes, it can be ridden, but keeping it in the shop puts more pressure on them. I want to get it right, besides, Workensport was nice to pay my Sept. bill. I'm still riding, my wife has a Polaris Sportsman 500 that runs great. I might have a Artic cat with low miles on it for sale or trade............hmmmm, Polaris is sounding good right now.

'keeping it in the shop' doesnt put pressure on anybody really. in fact, they are not required to keep it and can charge YOU storage. BUT:
sounds like the dealer is being really nice to you, and you know they don't HAVE to be. Hopefully Arctic Cat rep will make you happy....from what you've written the dealer can't find a problem. I'll bet they wish BEAR was there - to solve the problem and thrash the LIAR. I know these people - they have nothing to gain by lying to you. Remember these are not rednecks in a gas station - it's the biggest dealership in half the state roughly the size of GERMANY, both east and west.
Where I work they would definitely NOT make a payment for you - in fact it would be sitting in a corner waiting for the rep to show up, and reps normally appear here only once per quarter, and the dealer is not obliged to do anything outside the warranty contract YOU signed with the manufacturer...
Sounds to me like you are being treated very well by the dealer. They want to keep you. Would a car dealer make your monthly payment? I think not. Remember they didnt build the thing. I wonder if they need any help? hehe
Keep us posted! I wanna hear how this works out!

I'm not complaining about the service dept as a company, in fact, the sevice manager has been exceptional. He understands my complaint/concerns, but just cannot find the problem. It's one of those "Don't know how to fix that"

Latest word is that they are going to take the quad to some guy in Washington who is Artic cat's tech repair guru. The Artic CAt rep they brought in was a Sales rep. , nothing he could do. Will keep you posted.

Ok, the guys up at the The Toy Store in Washington found the spade connectors on the coil grounding out. Sent it back but it was adjusted for sea level, not 3,000. I told the guys at Workensport it was running like crap and they said its been to two shops and thats the how its suppose to run. Called up Washington, told them the problem and they figured out right away about the carb adjustment.
Took it back to workensport for the correct adjustment. I again asked to compare it to a new one, they brought out this Tony Stewert model. It ran worse than mine. The Sales Manager and Service Manager both said this is the way they are suppose to run and sound. I made the conclusion that I have to fix it myself after hearing that.
It still does not run "right" but a hell of lot better than before.
Symptoms.----Hard to start cold now, and when it does fire, it's firing mostly on one cylinder. After the 5 minute warm up it does sound better. Upper throttle is good, lower is still off
Questions-
On the carb, is that an air or fuel screw?
Is it possible that the arcing of the coil did somthing to the CDI or coil itself?

Raptor8, air controls air and fuel controls fuel, opposite of each other. Some carbs have both. as I'm sure you know.
I would say its about 80%, something is still off, hard to to start cold, still rough if you hammer it, hesitation on launch as you put it, but once you get past that idle circuit, it's good.
Maybe if you have time we could meet and you can test ride it. By the way, Workensport would only give me the wholesale trade in amount which is 3600.00. I assume you're with that Polaris dealer that starts with a C.

Sput,
the operative words there are 'adjustment' and 'mixture' and since the carb only mixes two things, fuel and air, hence we get the names people use. Ive seen the service manual call a screw an air adjust screw and the parts book describe the same part as a fuel mixture screw. hence my comment. They are used for mixing the two components......depends on where you are - hey Ive heard em called ' doo-hickeys', 'that gold screw', I've seen them so over torqued they wouldnt come back out! LOL. and 99% of the time ppl go after the carb that is NOT the problem. Hence my question about how you are getting on with those people.
ready to buy a different brand? one with local service you can depend upon? ;p
