Shifter Conversion for 300

I completed the shifter conversion today from 2001 cable style to 2002 and later rod style. Its a big improvement Before it
was difficult to shift into 3rd gear. I would end up coasting to a complete stop while standing on the shifter and it would
not shift. Now it goes into every gear positively.
Two tips if you intend to do it. One, don't forget to order the lock nut that holds the new rod to the new shift pedal. I was lucky that my local dealer had one in stock and is open a few hours on Saturday. Two, don't do any modifications to the reverse bracket that is mounted on the engine until you test the new rod for fit. I did not have to cut the existing bracket at all. The new rod when right through the opening without touching it. If it touches a little you can bend the very end of the rod slightly to create an arc 1 eighth of an inch or so. Some who have converted have had to cut the bracket but I think that AC might have changed the shape of the rod to accommodate us retrofitters.

P.S. Thanks Bear, I coudn't have done it without your help.
