Make sure it is set on miles per hour and NOT kilometers per hour.

I bought an '06' A/C (Kymco) 250 for my daughter. Though it's a total depature from the '05' and earlier 250's, I understand why A/C went with Kymco to build this quad. It's a very impressive machine - especially for a 2x4. It has a CVT transmission, has low range, surreal braking and handles like a Porche. It's also a lot lighter and therefore I felt somewhat safer for my daughter to ride. She's 11, but outrides the 90 A/C and my buddies Yamaha Breeze. With the rev limiter, I truly feel she's as safe as can be on an ATV. It has an impressive cooling system, handles water/mud very well, has good ground clearance, (10-inches). Excellent front suspension, good throttle response and a nice ride, despite the single-arm straight-axle rear and a rather hard seat. I'm 6'4" and 270lbs and I took it for a whirl, (rev unlimited). It handles like a DVX, in fact it essentially is a DVX with different skin and drivetrain. The brakes have to be the most impressive feature on this quad and I hope A/C studies their design. This thing stops on half-a-dime! Even with my large *** on it, this quad clips! I also love the marker/parking lights - looks very, very cool. Downsides are the tires. I liked them at first and the fronts are oaky, but she needs taller rear tires. Also, this quad is totally void of storage space and I'm not impressed with the squeaky/leaky rear shock and dated single arm rear end. As cool as the lights are, they fog in wet weather. I'd rather see this quad in FIS and hopefully, A/C Kymco will issue it in 4x4 one day. Other than that, it was/is money well spent. By the way, I pulled my A/C utility cart full of firewood up a steep climb to camp - this thing didn't miss a beat.

I just recently purchased an '05 400 4X4 auto, and now am thinking about something for my wife. The 250 sounds like an interesting option - can any of you give me a ballpark figure as to what they are selling for? Anyone know what the MSRP is? I may stop in at the local dealer this weekend, but was curious to know before then.
Thanks.

I got out the door, (tax title tag) for just a hair under 4-grand. The other thing I forgot to mention: Try and find something bad about Kymco. I searched extensively and found little to nothing....This would be a perfect quad for your wife, as mine rides it as well. The only downside I see riding the trails around here is it does get a bit hung up in the taller boulders, so learning to pick a line is important. Other than that, she should be thrilled with it...Good luck.

Thanks for the quick reply MassMark! I think we won't tackle anything too rough when she's riding so the clearance shouldn't be an issue. Did I read somewhere in this thread whether or not the 250 comes in an auto tranny or just manual? I didn't see it when scrolling back through. Any one know?

The '06' 250's are 100% automatic - no manual available. I'm an auto fan for life now. Never ever thought I'd own an automatic, until I bought one. I love it. The 250 auto has an awesome low range as well. The only thing it lacks is engine braking, but the manual brakes are so good, that it's hardly needed - just be nice to have. It does have 10" of ground clearance, so it's pretty good. At some point, if taller back tires become available, you may want to replace them - we are. Will wait until they're worn down though - they're good enough. Fronts are excellent. Enjoy!

As you can read from this thread, I own a 06' 250. I love the thing. But the reality is that the ground clearance is about 6 inches. The max clearance is 10 inches. But at the rear diff it is between 5 and 6. Just thought you should know.

Yeah that's why I think taller skins would be a great help on the back. I took my daughter on a pretty severe trail ride, (lots of rocks) and she got hung up very little - she's learning to pick her line. Rusroc - any ideas on taller tires for the rear? Haven't found anything yet, but I'm sure if they're not out there, they will be....

I think you could run a 24" tire with no trouble. I am going to put 23" Mud-lites on my son's. A little taller without killing much power. Most tires can be bought in a 23 or 24. A 25 may work, but that is asking alot from that engine.
