You now need a way to check the actual temp of the engine and cooling system. I have an Infared temp gun. Point it at what you want to know the temp of and bingo you get a readout. It even has a lazer dot for aiming. Otherwise, take it to your dealer, that's what the warranty is for.

I wouldn't worry about it as long as your coolant temp light does not come on......if it turns on and off the themastatically controlled switch is working.
On my old 2004 TBX and my 2005 TBX (both 500's) they do the same as you described. Even in the dead of winter......in fact if I'm pushing through deep snow continuously the fan will run dang near nonstop.
If you take it to your dealer you won't be out anything, but I'm sure he will tell you nothing is wrong.
I hope you are enjoying the warm fall you've been having.......I'm thinking the weather will change by the end of the month. Hoping to get some snow here in North Dakota to get out and ride some snowmobile!
