Default v2 or not?

I have a 2006 650V2 and most AC fans seem to discourage the purchase and reliability of it. I love it and have had zero problems in mud, snow high speed, belt, or anything. Is there anyone who approves of the V2?

It seems most of the problems that accure with the v2 are from the belt. Its the kawasaki system. Many people ignore the fact that you need to use LOW gear as much as possible. Thats just how that system works. Use it when going under 20 or so, climbing, mudding, pulling, loading, etc and the belt should be fine. Its just people are used to ac belt system and they use high to much and the belt gets worn and burns up.

Default v2 or not?

Mine is 2 yrs old next month. I fried a belt but it was my fault- trying to pull in reverse. I ride in low gear most of the time unless I am trail riding at higher speeds and have no problems. In 2004 my wife and I rode for 2 weeks (doubled up) in Moab and on the Paiute Trail and never had a bit of problems going anywhere.

I recently had the temp indicator come on but it was a sensor and not an actual overheating problem. Dealer replaced the sensor under warranty.

Other than the complaint of the wide turning radius, I like mine just fine.

Read the forums under all the other makes of ATVs. They all have problems of some kind now and then. Note too that most that have problems have modifications to their ATVs. Mine is bone stock other than I replaced the headlight bulbs with SilverStars. Big improvement.

Your right. I probably got worked up trying to defend the fact that I just paid 7 grand for this machine that I suddenly hear people say stay away from it and that they are not very reliable. But if I read other forums some people have the same opinion about the 400 and 500 and even the H1.

I have a friend that is a cat dealer and he says the 06 models are a great improvement. He also says that if you have a 05 or older then technically speaking you should drive in low range and use high range as an overdrive per se. He says that belt replacements on v2 are common place and replacements on th duramatic transmissions are almost non exsistent.
