Tires for a 400
#1
I'm looking to buy some aftermarket tires for my 4x4 400. I'm not sure which ones to go with yet and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions. I'm looking for something really agressive. I've been debating between Maxxis mud bugs, ITP mudlites and ITP 589's. I'm not too worried about prices and I'm looking to stay with 25". Any help??

Scubasteve,
I am not sure about the Maxxis mud bugs but, I had 26 inch Mudlites and I am puchasing a second set for my 400 manual and set for my TRV because I liked how they performed so much. I decided to go with the 26inch Mudlite tire as it had increased the tread depth from 11/16 inch (found on 22 - 25inch mudlite tires) to 1 1/8 inch tread depth(found on the 26inch and larger mudllite tires). I think the 589's have a more agressive tread depth than the mudlites but it changes with the tire size as well and I do not know what it is.
So if you are looking for the most agressive 25inch tire look at the tread depth. Mudlites are 11/16 inch. Maxxis ? 589's ?

I just bought a new set of Interco Swamplite 25's for my Eiger, and I love them tried them out last night in gravel ice and some loose stuff, have not had them in the mud yet have heard they will hook up great. Got the bigwheel set with the Interco Condor 4 wheels. The wheels widened my stance quite a bit, will be posting pics soon.

I'd go with Kenda Executioners, they're a very aggressive tread, good for all conditions, and have a rim guard built in. Look 'em up, nice tires. Look at them on an H1

the most aggressive 25" tires are probably the bi/tri claws, mudzillas, outlaws, vampires- these tires are basically mud only tires- they will also rob you of a lot of your power another really aggressive tire is the spider tracs but theyre not so good in the mud

If you want to stay with a 25 that is a good tire take a serious look at the gator. Their light, easy on the drivetrain and are really good tires. My friend has a set of them on his rubicon and he loves them, i had a 400 AC and i put 26" mudlites on it, it turns the machine into a complete animal. And still has plenty of power, if you know what your doing. If i were you i'd look at a gator, or a 26 mudlite so you can get the deeper lugs. Think about your drivetrain before you strap on some vampires or mudzillas. Even though they look really sweet
