Default AC 250 Util- (2006) Accessories available? - Disappointing.:(

Well, I bought my AC 250 during '05 Nov. hunting season. I am
actually really pleased w/this quad overall (Handling, size,
power etc.)

However, I can't seem to get anything for it. This 250 can't use
any AC Mfg. SpeedRack accessories or even qualify to upgrade
to their SpeedRack system. All the winches I look
at, no-one has any mount kits that fit 2006 - 250 model. In addition,
I am looking for a decent front rack storage box and AC excludes almost
every accessory from the 2006 model in their catalog. The local dealer
where I live (Marine Tracker & Boat w/Bass Pro Shop)
were not very helpful. I called the AC - HQ and they gave me
grief telling me that I need to work thru local dealers not them.
(round and round we go). I surfed the net exhaustively and called a few
other dealers in MN and Sak, CA. Those guys don't know anything and
tell me some new catalog will come out in the middle of the summer and
the AC Mfg. may have some accessories to go with my model. Its as
if know one cares about us few 250'rs.(hoo hummm)

Help! Could any of my AC comrades point me to some good dealers
on-line or otherwise to help me out and recommend some good, affordable 3rd party even
vendors that truely carry stuff (replacement-to-Hop up parts) for
the 2006 Util 250 model? Thanks in advance!

Yours truly (very frustrated),

You are correct - the 250 was not designed with the MRP or speed rack options. But you can add them.
Have someone weld one inch square tube to the bottom of your existing racks and order the plastic inserts to fit in those. You can create your own MRP system in a matter of a couple hours work.
Go to a dealer and see how its done on the newer 2005-2006 models. I think its 8 inch on center but check that.

The TRV's had no rear rackage either but we made up a weldment to go right on top of the existing tubing. Has worked well.

Most other quads don't have MRP plug-in sockets but you can bolt on front and rear plastic boxes using U bolts to the racks. Add some tank, fender and saddle bags and you will have a good amount of storage. I like the Tamarack brand rear boxes. Very durable. The AC front box can be U bolted on the front rack and that carrys a ton of stuff.

Hop up a 250??? Thats like putting a rear spoiler and varoooom pipe on a honda civic.... LOL 250 is what 250 is.

The 2006 AC250 is the same engine as the Kymco 250 machine. The Kymco has a larger engine with a lighter machine than the older AC250. I would expect the preformance to be fairly good, even in the heavier ute version.

I thinks it's crazy.
I haven't been able to get bumpers, or even handguards! I guess I could live without those two, but what I would really like it a gun scabbard, but I can't get it! Insane. I thought atleast Kymco would have some accessories available, but they don't!
I had to search high and low just to find a skid plate + exhuast, and the only place I could find it was on this website that seems like it was cheaply made and it owned by like one guy! I could live without the exhaust, but I would like the skid plate, and last time I rode mine, I heard alot of scraping while riding over large logs.

Thanks everyobdy for the replys. Abit enlightning not
really comforting. I too have seen the Tamarack products, I will
probably go that route on my front storage box.

WhoDat- Thanks for the nice hack tip on creating my own makeshift
SpeedRack system. Do you have any diagrams and/or digital pics of yours?

I still would like a better hop up steel brush-guard/bumper. The plastic front bumper is cheap
and cracked all up just going thru brier patches and some not so tuff
brush. I still would like to know about the winch thing, who out there
has mount kits. And does anyone know if the AC 12vDC lighter plug
accessory in their catalog would work right on my 250, if I install and
connect to my battery? Once again their catalog is not clear.

Overall who are the best on-line (Repuditable/affordable) part companies
that I can rely on for future purchases. Again I am a new AC newbie!

Thanks again everybody!

click the camera to the left of this post and see the picture MRP half Rack. But you really want to look at the stubby plug in's they use now on the 2005's MRP machines as it would be easy to duplicate. I've purchased dozens of those plastic inserts so I know you can also. look at www.planetarcticcat.com for online accessories.

It's still a new machine - give it time. In the meantime, we mounted a Koplin rear box on my daughter's 06 A/C 250 Utility and it works great. I like it 10-times better than anything A/C makes, (some of their accessories are crap). Also bought the A/C Tank Bag - works great as well. I don't understand the bumper concern, as ours is steel. Kymco has headlight guards and rack extenders as well. I do agree however that a SpeedRack option would be awesome - perhaps next year?

Okay I will check out Kymco stuff, I hadn't checked there. Thats why I
joined this forum to ask you experts. Thanks for all the good info. Whodat, I looked
at the pics really cool, but I still can't quite make out where you make that
rear rack into a speedrack system. Your half-rack covers the (as it would) the
square pegs. Do you or anyone else have any step by step and/or diagrams?
I am assuming you need to disassemble the rack from the atv? I don't have
a arc-welder or know who can do it. Ohh BTW Massmark, yes I have the steel front
bumper to but the plastic shielding on it cracked to pieces.

To clear up my fubared description on my plastic bumper
NOW I KNOW its called the plastic fascia attached (replacement
ordered at Basspro on its way) to the steel bumper.
I got my winch today at Basspro after much discussion w/those
folks. The Warn 1.5ci kit put out by AC does fit the 2006 250 w/out any
needed mounting plate. I also, ordered the Tamarack front cargo
storage box after much research from these threads, googling and
testimonals.

Thanks everybody for your great advice, tips and tech support it
has surely helped my significantly with reassuring my decisions on
purchasing certain products. (Thanks WhoDat!)
