Default Cables - How do you lube them?

Comments have been made that the best way to keep the choke cable from sticking is to lube it. I agree it's a good idea to lube all your cables, but how do you do it?

In the summer, I use clear thin oil only. Like WD-40. When it needs a good lube, I remove the cable, soak it in gasoline 48 hours, then re-lube with WD-40 (before re-installing). Usually, I do an end/end re-lube every other year. Works for me....

I thought you could not lube the newer cables on ATV's. Due to the teflon coating inside the cables?

I have a little clamp that I have used to lube the cables on my old CanAm 125 motorcycle and my old Suzuki 4 wheeler. You remove the cable, put this clamp on, and spray with a can of lube through a little nozzle until the stuff runs out the other end of the cable. It works great and is fairly cheap. I have seen then on Rocky Mountain ATV web site.

I just thought you couldn't use them on the newer cables that have a teflon lining. I was told it would cause the teflon coating to separate from the inside of the cable lining and put the cable in a bind so the cable would havet difficulty to moving.
