AC ATV Trade-in's?
I called my local AC dealer (Bass Pro /Tracker Marine) about trading
in my AC 250 (2006), towards a new 400 2006 AC. I remember when I was in the market for
my 250 all the used prices were right up there not far from new prices. In a
sense a good thing that these hold value. But has anyone traded in their existing
cats to a AC dealer for a newer or in my case a better (upgrade) model?
Are they better than selling privately. Will they take into account my higher
purchase on the 400 model? If this goes thru good I may only have to
finance like $1500-1800, thats doable!
Opinions, thoughts, suggestions?

Take it to the dealer and see what he will do for a final OTD price on the new machine. THen see what he will do if you just bought the 400 out right.
Then go and sell it privately for $300 more then the dealer offers, I guarantee it will sell real fast. Good luck!

Thanks for all the replys. As it turned out I went up to the AC dealer
tonight to have a chat about my AC 250 (2006) trade-in. They
would not even offer me $1500 even without looking at my
Quad. My Quad is in excellant condition less than 50k, only a few months
old, practically new. I paid almost $4k (ship, frt, taxes, etc.) in November for this.
And looking at all the personal sales, trade-in web sites, even the 2001-2004
were asking near $3k w/wear-n-tear. I basically told them to take a hike. No deal was
made on the 400. The sales rep. was much to be desired. My cousin
on the other hand wants the 400 Auto 4x4 w/some accessories.
If the sales person would of been a little aggresive tonight my cousin would of
bought tonight. He will be going back tomorrow to deal w/day shift
reps.

Sounds like you need to find a new dealer. A good dealer makes the whole system work. A bad dealer only cares about selling you a quad; "Service and customer care! What's that?" just doesn't get the job done. I passed on the closest Cat dealer for the best one in the state. Best prices (highest volume dealer inthe state, probably because they only sell Cats), great service, outstanding parts program and they keep the promises.
