If you don't mind the Auto-Clutch 5 speed, I would go with the 2005 and older model 250's. They have been proven to be a great sturdy machine, plus they've got IRS, and 4WD, both of which I've been missing on my 2006 250. And I heard that you can put a front locker on the older 250 models.

I was at my kawasaki dealer today and was looking at a 2006 kvf 360 4x4 (prarie 360). What a machine this !!! It is a little more money, but seems to be best of them all. It has every feature possibe(variable locking front diff. sealed rear brake, push button 4x4, low range, high/low beam lights, auto trans with belt wear indicator light and sensor, engine braking control, thrmo fan cooled, mcferson struts, carb heater for cold weather, all gauges, front and rear bumpers and a 2-year warrenty. The only feature I noticed it lacking was the independent rear suspenion. The price I got on the new 2003 artic cat was $7000 can. The price on the kawasaki was $8500. So definitly a difference in price but seems like a better bike and is an 06' insted of an 03' . Any suggestions anybody?

For the $1500, even in Canadian dollars I'd go with the Cat. I like the AC 250 alot. Had a 2001 250 for my first cat and now the wife rides it and I have a 400, but the 400 is really more bike than I need for my style of riding. I don't do sand and I like trails and small groups.

lol just a lil secret v2 i know that when i say bad things about kawi's belt drive system (which i really do dislike) i know i will get a response from you. but like i said before i don't have HUGE tires on my machine i got my lil 27 inch tires and it came stock with 26 inch. 2 belts in 1700 miles. and hemi if you think that belt indicator light is your friend it isn't. it is designed where if you get water in your clutching system your atv goes into what is called limp mode. basically it drives just like like going in reverse without hitting the override switch. another stupid design cause if you get water in the clutch system you can put it in neutral and rev up the motor and it blows the water out, so you do that and it is still stuck in limp mode and if you are back in the middle of nowhere now you gotta LIMP your machine home.
