As far as oil goes just make sure the oil is "wet clutch" safe. I know others use Amsoil and the like. I just prefer to buy the AC oil and filter in the kit. Cost about $30 for a gallon of AC syntetic (0w40 I believe) and a filter. The same kit is sold for an AC 375, 400, and 500. So I assume they will all use the same filter.
I came across the following list of filter numbers some place for Suzuki 400, 500 engines. Which is what is used in AC 400's and 500's. I know the NAPA one is good as my brother uses it on his Suzuki Eiger.
NAPA 1359
FRAM 6018
Purolator 16818
WIX 51359
STP SMO-18
Hope this helps.

I had a 98 500 4X4 Manual that I put over 4,000 miles on before I sold it to a good friend and I always used Penzoil 10w40. Penzoil 10-40 is not "Energy Conserving" so it does not have Moly which makes it safe for wet clutches. I used NAPA 1359 filters that are made by Wix. I changed the oil every 300 miles like the owners manual suggested.
The 400 takes the same filter as the 500 in 98.
