Default Welding a broken hub

Our daughter smacked a tree with the RF tire of our 'new' 2004 AC 300. It snapped the tab for the tie rod off the hub but everything else looks okay (and she's okay too.) We've ordered a new hub which should be in tomorrow. My question is, the hub appears to be cast iron, which I know can be welded, carefully. Has anyone welded one back together? I don't plan to do the welding myself, since I don't have a stick welder and the experience doing cast iron.

New ones are only around $65, but it would always be good to have a spare on the shelf, since we have two 300's now.

Thanks,
Dave

The hubs are cast and unless you can find one very far above average welder, don't bother as it will break again. Better and safer to replace the hub,

I agree with Bear, 65 dollars is cheap compared to an emergency room visit. Not worth the risk. You know that when it does break it is not going to be in a good safe place.
