Auto Shift linkage bind
#1
Any of you guys with the AutoCat's out there experiencing the bind when trying to put the Cat in low range. Mine needs to be goosed with the throttle once in awhile to get it into low, then it is tight pulling it out. It looks like it is a simple design problem. The lever on the tranny travels in such a wide arc that it puts the linkage in poor mechanical advantage when it gets near the end of the arc.

Sorry, mine goes in and out of high/low very easily. I do have to goose it a bit every now and then to pull it back into 2wd after being in 4wd for a while though, but only sometimes. It seems that it kind of "locks" in, and the lever won't pull it out. Then, by gassing it a bit and letting off, it pops right out.
Is your linkage too tight, or possibly bent? Good luck, sorry I couldn't be of any help.

Thank's guys. My linkage binds to the point where i can push most of my 5'10" 310 pound chunky butt into the range selector and still not force it into low, I have to push it part way and blip the throttle. Then, when I try to pull it out of low, it sticks and forces me to reef on the dang thing so hard that it flies all the way down to reverse. Now this is not a real big deal, except when I'm plowing snow. I go from low to reverse to low quit often. I was just wonderin if anyone had the problem and could save me some time. I think I could make a solid lever mounted right on the tranny but it would have to be short enough (for the length of travel) and out of the way to the point of being impractical. Who knows. Give me something to do next week.
