Default Questions AC 400 Auto

Well I got the Arctic Cat the other day and so far I like it. But its to early to judge this machine yet. The shifter seems to be a little touchy or sticky. The dealer said it will come around and get easier as I use it. That does make sense. Ok otherwise its ok. Now for the big question. I looked in the manuel to see how to set the clock on the speedometer. I don't see anything on it in the book. I see where it says an hr clock for machine hours. But this is a clock and it is 1hr an 14 min. slow. Does anyone know how to set it or tell me where to find it in the manuel. The manuel has a broad range of info. You have to be sure your reading about your model. Thanks Keppy

Look under the "Speedometer/Indicator Lights" section (page 95 in my 2005 owners manual) and then find "Clock/Hour meter Display Button"

It does inmy book. Under section 6 Clock/Hour Meter Display Button; under section A is says;

"Press and hold the display button until thr minute display blinks; then adjust the minute display by pressing the button. Press the Odometer/Trip Meter Display Button (1) to set the minute display."

NOTE: If the display button is pressed in and held, the minute display will advance continously.

Under section B it says:

"After the minute display is set, the hour display will blink. Press the Clock/Hour Meter Display Button (6) to set the hour display."

lol keppy i like that how that was the big question. out of the literally hundreds of questions people have with their new wheelers i think it is kinda funny how someone finally asked how to set the clock. hopefully this will be the only problem you have with your new ride

Yep it was a big one. Got know what time to come home for supper. I like it very well so far. I see a couple things that I will take up with the dealer. Such as the shifter and the front wheels seems to be toed out. But thats proababy the way its supose to be. I put 15 miles on it today. Looks like it might rain.
Weez have a good day.

Keppy - Congrats! I have the 400 LE with 300 miles on it. The shifter and steering does get easier the more miles you can put on as well as the hand break. As I read on other posts, the Cats continue to get better with the more miles. If you have the stock Carlisle Badlands, look for them to be one of your first upgrades. They come off the rim rather easily in thick mud. To combat this, I run the front tires with 7-8lbs of pressure vs. the 5lbs the manual says.

I like the machine very well. It is my first, but have rode others. It seems you have to touch the throttle a bit sometimes for it to shift easy. I also have that brand of tire. I don't do much mudding. Most of the places I go are dry trails. Do you run higher presure in the rear also? Thanks Keppy

kaptap is right the badlands have a very soft sidewall on them. when you are trail riding and go around corners at a higher rate of speed they will actually fold underneith themselves. i have about 50 to 100 miles on mine and my rims were all chewed up from the rocks cause they were folding that bad or maybe it is i was driving that aggressive. the arctic cat atv's seem to handle the best if you put a good 6-ply tire on. i would suggest 26 inch itp mud lite's stiff tire and a good tread. i got itp 589's on mine but them things weigh a ton and require alot more power to pull them.
