Radiator/Coolant Question
#1
well i went ahead and spent the $30 to buy engine ice and get it shipped here. then i find out that i shouldnt run it in the winter, good thing i didnt put it in. so today i went to the hardware store and bought their best product, which was a high-performace coolant/antifreeze. i used a 70/30 ratio mixture instead of the normal 50/50 to try and achieve their -86oF freeze point and 176oF boilover point. just wondering 1st off if that was a smart move or not. didnt say anything in the manual not to use 70/30 and the bottle said not to use less than 50/50 or more than 70/30. so i flushed my system and put my new mixture in.
i drained the reservoir also and see that no coolant is in there after i filled it. should i fill that myself manually or will the system fill it. if im supposed to fill it manually should i fill it to full cold or full hot. thanks for any help.

The water in the 50/50 mixture is what helps with the cooling capacity. Too much antifreez actually will make you run hotter because the antifreeze only keeps the water whitch actually does the cooling from boiling or freezing. To pay 30 dollars for antifreeze is nutz. A 50/50 mix of distilled water and regular old antifreeze is all you should use.
