Default extra keys

I'll tell ya what sucks!!! Went to the deer camp for opening day for deer season last week and made the two mile trip to my deer stand from the camp for a promising day of putting some meat in the freezer. I parked the wheeler about a 1/2 mile from the stand and made the cold walk to the stand at about 30 minutes before daylight. Dropped a big boy at about 7am and after following a lengthy blood trail to my deer I marked my spot with some bright orange tape and made the long walk back to my wheeler to haul the deer out. Well, guess what? My key had somehow fallen from my jacket pocket either enroute to my stand or during my track, either way I coudn't find it. Needless to say, the "journey" back to my camp to not only get someone to help me load the deer up but also tow me out of the woods was not only exhausting but embarrassing as hell. To make a long story short, I go to my local A/C dealer with my spare to get an extra copy. After paying 7 bucks for the key and 5 bucks for the rubber cover for the key, I learned that my "new" key had to be rekeyed at a local locksmith. My dealer told me that he couldn't get keys anymore from arctic cat that were already keyed even though I gave him the number from my spare a week before my new key came in. Needless to say, after taxes, I am out 20 bucks for the whole setup. To make me "feel better" ( I GUESS) he informed me that the can-am keys cost about 80 bucks to replace.
Can you say spare key in your wallet.

The key issue is getting pretty sticky. Some of the cycle OEM's are not offering replacement keys because of thefts. They will only sell complete swicthes. I guess they figure the thieves won't pay out for a switch. Any of them should be able to get blanks that can be copied from your key though.

thank you for the info.
bear i have been wanting those munber since i bought the bike thank you.

i havent had a chance to call hopefully today i have a few thing i have to do. i do have one blank on order with the dealer from moriaty hopefully i will get it, the dealer in amrillo is still trying he said. i have to go to clovis next week i am going to take my key and hopfully find some place there that can make it for me.
SDMF thats just what i am worried about. i am going on a deer hunt in a couple weeks i will be the only one there my hole hunting party is disbanded this year (draw hunt, new jobs, and military) leaving me to go it alone i can just see me getting out in the midle of the national forest and dropping my key. my girl just took a new job but is hoping to come down one day and i was going to leave one key with her and the day she would be there i would leave the atv in camp with a note telling her where i would be so she could put her rifle on the atv and come find me, and now i have miss placed the key with that rubber pice on it some where we shook down the house camper all three trucks and no luck i am scared it was left in the switch when she put it on the trailer and blow out. so that makes me want extra keys more than ever.

I still have one of the spare key's i had made for my old 86' honda trx 350 foreman , i kept it just in case my brother ever lose's the original's ; it's a ilco u.s.a. blank with the number on key stock X138 HD75 . I got it at Wal - Mart , Lowes or Home Depot ; this key is longer than the original ! It's about 2 1/2 inch long and has a bigger head but it work's fine ! Infact the longer key linth made it easy to get to the lock for the handle bar's , i wish the cat's had the locking handle bar's like the old foreman , that would be a nice option for the AC's or any atv; anyway if they have a blank that they can cut one for the honda it shouldn't be to hard to find a blank for other brands ! .................williebee
