If the high and low beam lights are the same, what makes 1 brighter than the other? Are the high beams just designed to project in more of a straight line, and the lows just go wider?

 

Not brighter, the reflectors behind the lights are shaped different, creating a different beam, making it appear that the highs are brighter. Lows are more of a flood light, while highs are more of a spot light. That's why I like to have both lights on when in the high beam position (a simple switch mod), more light covering more area, for the better visiblity for my tired old eyes. I miss my night vision.

 

If you ever find your night vision Bear, can you please look around to see if mine is around there some place too?

What 37 watt blubs are you guys installing? code #? are you replacing both low and high sides?

I replaced both hi and low beams with Silverstar #893 and it made a huge difference.
