well....i searched some info on the AC 400 and 500.....i read that the 400 couldnt turn 27s in reverse ......
the 500 manual....i heard that if you're going up a hill and downshift into first, it will just die....i wanted to get a manual but if thats true, i'd rather an auto but then i have to worry about the belt lol....
honestly, what do you guys think? will a 400 be enough to turn like 27s, with a decent lift.....? or should i go with the 500? auto or manual? what year do you think?

im not trying to be a pain but what exactly do you do as far as a fan or whatever to make it run underwater?
also, if i got a manual AC, it wouldnt have a belt? sorry , but this is a HUGE deal so i need to figure out what i'd need to do

2) that is correct, if you get a 5 speed manual it won't have a belt.

2) That is 100% not true about the 500 manual, it won't die at all.
3) A 400 will turn 27's and the ATV will have more power then your 250, but some people say it won't turn 27's because they are used to a bigger ATV and when they hop on the 400 with 27's then notice the power decrease. You won't, so it will be just fine for you.
Finally, you can stop worring about a belt. These things are not the Polaris's of the early 90's. Arctic Cat belts (along with Yamaha) are the best in the business and you won't have a single problem. GOod luck

awsome....you just answered all my questions!!! i think i'd go with a manual just b.c they're fun but i'd go with whatever i can find cheapest....
just one more question (sorry) how many years back should i go as far as looking for an AC? 2000, 2001,2002,2003+.......basically, which one will work good (as long as its in good condition) but i still can find TONS of accessories for it......im think we'd go with a 500 but if we find a 400 for real cheap...we'd probably go with that...
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I EXTREMEMLY APPRECIATE YOU GUYS HELPING ME OUT SO MUCH!!!!!!!

I woudn't talk to the A/C dealer about snorkling your quad. There are a million posts on this forum that cover warranty questions and I can say with plenty of experience that modifications void the warranty. Anyway getting back to your decision. I have an '06 500 manual shift. I got tired of the belt probs on my po po's and vowed to never own another auto tranny. The manual A/C not only has the 5 speed tranny,it also has a hi/lo range selection. I run 28" mudlites with spacers and i stay in high range when on easy trails and there is no lag in the motor. When it's mud time, I drop it to the low range selection and it pulls like a tank with tons of low end torque. If you bog up a little and you need a little more, hit the diff lok and women flock to you like the muscle guy on the beach. The quads that your looking at from honda don't have near the ground clearance nor the price tag that an A/C does. Plus if your going to snorkle it, the manual needs only one snorkle from the front air intake that takes roughly an hour including the time it takes to take the front rack and plastic off and costs maybe $30 bucks to do. After you do the right thing and buy a cat and need an idea on how to snorkle it let me know.

oh cool. i think i'll get a manual then. im still gonna talk to the AC dealer about snorkeling and stuff b.c. when it comes time to buy, we dont even know if we're buying new. and if we do, they're not gonna remember us so it wont make a difference lol. i really need that extra ground clearance so thats the main prop. for going with AC. im dying to get it lol. the IRS is gonna be awsome too. thanks guys/gals.....im probably gonna go down there today. find out some more info on them and stuff like that. ill let ya know how it goes. THANKS!
