Has anyone heard of disconnecting the engine brake actuator? I read on one of forums that someone did that and it made a difference at low speeds as well. I know on mine when I start out it feels like I have the parking brake on. I guess anything under 5 mph the engine brake does not fully disengage?????????????????

What do you think?

For slow trail riding, with no large hills, it does seem to be a little nicer ride with the engine break disconnected. I ride with mine disconnected about half the time. If you want to try it, just pull the fuse labeled "actuator", and see if you notice any difference.

Good question I learned. Called dealer today they said LOW also, unless on flat smooth surface. Keep asking

The 500 has a different tranny and belt system.

Normally yes, but you need to use some common sense here to. If the going gets rough or steep, you damn well won't hurt anything in low range, well maybe the gas mileage a little but if you wanted real gas mileage you won't have bought an auto anyway. I run my 400 manual in low range on steep or rough trails because the gear spread is closer and I can keep the engine in the power band easier.

thanks bear

I normally do ride my bike in low on rough terrian or tight trials where speed isn't an issue. My bike is 3 years old and I haven't had a problem yet *** knock on wood***
